From the moment I met my wife, I was captivated by her liveliness, innocence, and talent. Growing up in India, she excelled academically, always standing first in her class. Yet, this success was accompanied by struggle and competition, fostering a subconscious expectation for her to always be the best. Anxiety began to creep in during medical school, affecting her performance and well-being.
When we decided to marry and move to the USA, the transition was overwhelming for her. The pressure of adapting to a new country, combined with expectations of fulfilling familial roles, took a toll on her health. She experienced gastritis, panic attacks, and recurrent infections, and clinically diagnosed with pernicious anemia, iron deficiency and anxiety. After having a third molar tooth extraction, she experienced a sudden downfall in her quality of life due to temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder. Her locked jaw made chewing difficult and greatly reduced her quality of life. Her career came to a halt and stress of expectations piled up. Despite consulting numerous doctors, relief seemed elusive.
With the help of a TMJ specialist doctor, my wife got some relief starting with a customized bite guard. Her TMJ treatment progressed over the next few years, her jaw and bite started aligning, allowing her to eat normally. Even after structural realignment of her jaw, we learned that stress from past trauma would exacerbate her TMJ symptoms, highlighting an additional connection between emotional health and physical well-being.
Burdened with the stress of wife’s illness and busy career, I suffered from chronic illness. As I navigated my own health challenges, I delved into the world of the human microbiome. Integrating human microbiome with quantum physics science, I realized that my well-being could positively influence my wife's health, emphasizing the importance of a loving and secure environment. We distanced ourselves from external pressures, focusing on healing past traumas and creating a supportive atmosphere. Over time, my wife began to rediscover her vibrant self. Her symptoms and iron levels improved, pernicious anemia and urine infections resolved, and she no longer needed supplements or antibiotics.
Our journey taught us that a nurturing environment fosters microbiome balance and healing. As a traditionally trained doctor, I initially focused on treating individual symptoms. While these are important to address, I now prioritize creating conditions for the microbiome to flourish, allowing natural healing to occur. Our relationship, built on mutual support and love, plays a crucial role in this process.
Integrating insights from quantum physics and microbiome science, I realized that our health is interconnected with the energies exchanged with others. Positive emotions can enhance microbiome health, while negative emotions can disrupt balance and increase disease risk. This understanding underscores the importance of relationships in maintaining health.
Today, we have a small baby boy, and the most important thing we strive for is to nurture him with love and happiness. Studies show that majority of the microbiome develops in the first few years of life, and we understand that a strong microbiome will lay the foundation for his future health and success. Therefore, it's not just about educating or teaching him through good schools, but ensuring he feels loved, supported, and confident. We focus on spending quality time with him and providing nutritious food. This initial investment supports his healthy growth and strengthens his microbiome, equipping him to navigate life with ease.
While treating a disease is important, our experience has shown that true healing extends beyond medical interventions. It involves fostering a supportive environment and nurturing relationships, allowing the microbiome to work its magic. This also entails putting important boundaries where needed and not just pleasing everyone. By focusing on love, respect, and mutual support, we have embarked on a transformative journey toward holistic health.
