My Journey to Healing Microbiome: From Mumbai to Mindfulness, Harvard Doctor to Health Coach

Growing Up in Mumbai

I grew up in a middle-class family in Mumbai, India, where the values of hard work and academic excellence were deeply ingrained. Fascinated by the mysteries of the human body, I was drawn to medicine, eager to solve the puzzles of disease. In a competitive environment, I worked tirelessly to secure a place at the prestigious Lokmanya Tilak Municipal Medical College, unaware that this relentless pursuit was disrupting my microbiome and setting the stage for future health issues.

The Academic Pursuit

The systematic approach to disease diagnosis and treatment led me to further my training in the USA. My sharp intellect was an asset in securing a postgraduate residency position, but the constant demand for intellectual engagement kept my sympathetic nervous system in overdrive, affecting my energy, sleep, and digestion. By age 30, I faced chronic diseases and autoimmune conditions, searching for answers in traditional medicine but finding only temporary relief.

The Microbiome Revelation

In the late 2000s, social media introduced me to the concept of the gut microbiome. A probiotic provided temporary relief of all my symptoms, sparking my curiosity about the interconnectedness of diseases. During my nephrology fellowship at Harvard, I chose to research the role of the human microbiome in kidney diseases, realizing that chronic diseases often stem from microbiome imbalances.

A Shift in Perspective

My exploration led me to authors like Joe Dispenza, Bruce Lipton, Sadhguru and Deepak Chopra, who discussed quantum physics and its influence on health. Intrigued, I delved deeper into quantum physics science and the practice of meditation, attending a transformative 10-day Vipassana program. This practice helped me connect with my higher self, illuminating the path to balancing my microbiome and healing naturally. I realized that the foundations of microbiome imbalance were laid in my childhood, manifesting as disease at a later age.

Founding Healing Microbiome

As a physician scientist, I need to find a scientific explanation for my healing experience. I quit my job and took a six-month break to integrate my learnings into a course, "Healing Microbiome," focusing on the science of balancing the microbiome to heal diseases naturally. Inspired by pioneers in medicine like Hippocrates and Sir William Osler, I founded Healing Microbiome to educate and empower others to align with nature for holistic healing.

Conclusion: A New Paradigm

Healing isn't just about treating symptoms; it's about understanding the root cause and embracing a holistic approach. Through my journey, I've learned that aligning with nature and balancing the microbiome can lead to profound healing. My mission is to help others discover this path and transform their lives.
